Obituary for Irene Jane Lemanis

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Jane Lemanis (née Bridge) announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. A woman of faith, an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Irene's impact will never be forgotten.

Born in Sudbury and raised in Capreol, Ontario, Irene lived in various cities over the years—including Chicago, Boston, and Singapore—before returning to Oshawa in retirement.

She is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, Gerts Lemanis (2023). Cherished mother of Colin and Dawn Lemanis. She was a dear sister-in-law to Liliana McGee (the late Tom) and a treasured sister to Wesley Bridge (Sue), the late Sally Wood, and Janet Tulloch (Bill). Loving aunt to Clark Bridge, Jason Bridge (Trudy), Jim Bridge, Ashley Boulanger (Luc), and Theresa Thériault (Fabian). She was also a proud great-aunt to Jordan, Erin, Riley, Kailey, Morgan, Olivia, Zoey, Lincoln, Scarlett, Harper, and Haven. Irene’s nieces and nephews were her greatest joy, and she held them close in her heart.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her dear friends Brenda, Berylanne, Audrey, Ruby, Geri, Betty, and Constance.

She cherished spending time with her kindred spirit, Janet, and valued every moment with her family and friends. Irene loved coffee dates, going to the gym, practicing qigong, and watching British mysteries. She was known for her exceptional cooking and baking, particularly her famous blueberry and pumpkin pies.

Irene had an innate ability to light up every room she entered. A gifted storyteller with a heart full of generosity, her presence was magnetic. She was kind, caring, compassionate, and a true peacemaker. Irene will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love, laughter, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
