Douglas Ray Linton
February 1, 1949 - November 29, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Ray Linton on November 29, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Doug was the loving husband of Rose (née D’Amico) for 43 years and the proud father of Lisa (Christopher), Christina, and Jennifer (Alexander). He was a devoted Papa to Evelyn, Juliette, and Hendrik, who will miss him deeply.
Doug is predeceased by his parents, Cyril and Grace, his brother Ken, and his father- and mother-in-law Quirico and Angela. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Wayne (Diane), sister-in-law Judy, brother-in-law Pete (Debbie), Aunt Maria (Frank, deceased), and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in Italy and England.
A proud steelworker, Doug worked at Dofasco’s Coke and Ironmaking division for 37 years until his retirement in 2009. He cherished his connections with his coworkers and continued to meet them at retiree breakfasts. Doug loved the outdoors, enjoying walks, swimming, and fishing with his daughters and grandchildren, particularly during family trips to the cottage. He also loved the simple pleasures in life: good food, a fine glass of wine, crosswords, sudokus, mystery novels, and capturing cherished moments with his camera.
Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home in Hamilton on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A private family service will follow on Friday, December 6, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bay Gardens & Bayview Funerals.
