John Donald Lloyd
March 14, 1948 - February 17, 2025
John passed away suddenly at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on February 17, 2025.
Predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Daisy (Raines). Cherished brother of Charles Lloyd (Faye), and sister Ruth Beach (Jerry Sr. 2005). Foster brother to Ed Duffield (Anne). Predeceased by his brother, Mervin Lloyd (Olive 2010) and his nephew, Jerry Jr. (2024). Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.
John was never afraid of hard work, having worked on his father’s farm and later his brother’s dairy farm. After completing his post-secondary studies, he traveled west to work at Tasu Mines in the Queen Charlotte Islands. Upon returning to Ontario, he worked for the Department of Highways in the winter, spent summers in construction with his cousin, and eventually became a licensed Refrigeration Mechanic. In this role, he was a lifeline to dairy farmers, small businesses, and homeowners, always available 24/7 to ensure their refrigeration and air-conditioning systems were running smoothly.
John was a man who gave freely of his time and skills, always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Beyond his work, John enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, scuba diving while in B.C., golfing, curling, and following all the major sports leagues.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with a private interment to be held at a later date. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Online condolences are welcomed at Mangan Funeral Home.
