LOBO, Gerard Januarius Lobo -
September 19, 1935 -
Gerard (Gerry) J. Lobo passed away peacefully in Burlington, Ontario after almost 89 years of a life well lived.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was born in Belgaum, India and worked for ten years in East Africa for the British Civil Service.
He then married, started a family and moved to Montreal in 1966 where they stayed for thirty years before relocating to the Toronto area.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Kevin, Keith and Kerry and two grandchildren.
Gerry was in many ways, larger than life. He was a rock of integrity and a unique character who would jump to help anyone, which earned him the moniker "JerryCan" during his long career at CP Rail.
His giving nature included donating blood so many times that he received a commendation signed by the Governor General of Canada. He was also a master storyteller, especially of his many experiences in the remote jungles of Africa and had an endless supply of jokes to liven up any gathering.
He was always handy around the house and took on increasingly large projects long into his retirement.
Together with Dorothy they built pretty gardens, grew delicious produce and watched and fed many birds.
