Guerrino "Gerry" De Luca

1938 – 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing into eternal life of our beloved Guerrino “Gerry” De Luca on December 10, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family in prayer. Gerry’s life was filled with love, faith, and countless achievements that touched the lives of many.

Born in Picinisco, Frosinone, Italy, Gerry immigrated to Windsor in the early 1950s with his parents, Alessandro and Carmela (De Marco), and his brothers Steve (Maria), Orlando (Lydia), and Tony (Maria). Gerry discovered his passion for cooking and began his career as head chef of Elmwood Casino. He later fulfilled his dream of owning his own restaurants, starting with Colosseo in the 1960s, Torino and Primo in the 1970s, and culminating in Torino Restaurant, Banquet Hall, and Catering.

A founding member of the Ciociaro Club and a recipient of the Chef of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Awards, Gerry was a dedicated member of the Canadian Culinary Federation and The Italian Business Association. His faith in the Catholic Church guided him throughout his life.

Gerry was a devoted husband to Josephine (Coppola) for 64 years. Together, they raised their children: Madeline (Camillo), Alessandro (Vicky), Roberto (Dina), and Silvana (Luis). He was the proud grandfather of Adamo (Samia), Loreana, Stefano, Gianna (Chris), Elisa (Ben), Alessandro, Daniele, Olivia, Dante, Vienna, and Mia, and great-grandfather to Ella, Grace, William, and Ibraheem.

Visiting will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with parish prayers at 4:30 PM at Families First South Windsor, 3260 Dougall Ave., Windsor, ON (519-969-5841). Family and friends are invited directly to Assumption Parish (350 Huron Church Rd., Windsor, ON) for a funeral mass honoring Gerry’s life on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Downtown Mission, St. Vincent de Paul, or Second Chance Ministries. Memories and tributes may be shared online at www.familiesfirst.ca.
