Roderick "Roddy" John Macdonald

1945 - March 8, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roderick "Roddy" John Macdonald, retired Sergeant of the Durham Regional Police and former Oshawa Generals player and minor league hockey coach. Roddy passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, at the age of 80.

Beloved husband of Betty for 32 years. Loving father of Patrick Macdonald, Beverly Meyers (Walter), and Judy Collard (Quentin). Cherished Grampa to Lindsay (Shawn), Kayla (Bill), Megan, Todd, Madison, Bridget (deceased), and Avery, and Great-Grampa to Emma. He is fondly remembered by his sister Marjorie Shaw and was predeceased by his sister Mary Ellen Macdonald.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at McIntosh-Anderson-Kellam Funeral Home, 152 King St. E., Oshawa, on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Whitby.

In memory of Roddy, donations to Diabetes Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region would be appreciated.
