Susan MacDonald

July 15, 1969 - December 13, 2024

Susan MacDonald, beloved wife of Bruce and devoted mother of Callie, passed away after a long battle with cancer on December 13, 2024. She takes a great piece of their hearts with her.

Susan and her family spent the last 20 years living in Brooklin, Ontario. She passed away close to home at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa. A strong, wise, thoughtful, fun-loving, and kind woman, Susan was deeply involved in her daughter’s life, providing unwavering love and support. She was an exceptional teacher, a cherished family member, and a joyful friend who touched everyone she met.

Susan was born in Scarborough, Ontario, on July 15, 1969, to Bobby and Irene Johnstone. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and spent a few months in Scotland as a child before returning to Canada. Susan attended the University of Guelph and the University of Toronto, earning degrees in psychology and education. She taught at Stephen G. Saywell Public School for over 25 years, where she inspired countless students.

She was a loving wife to Bruce, with whom she shared many travels and memories, and an amazing mother to Callie. Susan will be remembered for her infectious laugh, love of popcorn, devotion to her family, and zest for life.

Susan is survived by her husband Bruce, daughter Callie, mother Irene, brother Gordon (Dina), and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father Bobby in 2014.
