MADGE, Gordon Stanley -
April 4, 1941 – July 24, 2024
Gord Madge was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. After a life well lived, Gord passed away in his sleep on July 24, 2024 at the age of 83.
Born in Ottawa on April 4, 1941 to Thomas Stanley Madge and Lillian Ada Wincott, he spent his early years in North Bay where he attended high school, worked for the local milk man and pitched baseball – his favourite sport.
Gord was the loving husband of Nancy (Love) and is predeceased by Bonita (Brisbois).
Devoted and proud father of Stacey Ann Madge (Jeff Willner) and fun loving grandpa of Max, Jack and Charly. Many happy Christmas and summer holidays were spent at the family cottage in Muskoka.
Caring step-father of Catherine Dranski (John) and Greg Love (Andrea Marshall) and stepgrandson Liam Bull (Heather).
Loved brother of Constance (late Dick Ward) and Doug (Linda) and sister-in-law Jennifer (late Jim).
Predeceased by brothers Victor (late Joan), Tom (late Gayle) and Jim and his sister Betty.
Son-in-law of the late Albert and Doris Brisbois. Brother-in-law of Gary Harding (late Patricia) and the late Ann Trudeau (Brisbois).
Gord will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
Thirty-seven years working at Consumers Gas in Barrie, Toronto, Peterborough and Whitby, he made lasting friendships with many co-workers.
Gord was a kind, loving and respectful man who doted over friends and family. He was relentlessly positive, resilient and a true fighter having survived multiple occurrences of cancer.
Visitation will be held at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby on July 31, 2024 from 6-8. Funeral will take place in the chapel on August 1st at 11:00 with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Oshawa.
