Doleweerd MartinDOLEWEERD, Martin (Marinus) - In his 85th year, passed away suddenly on Monday November 2, 2015 in his home with his loving wife of 58 years, Beppie (nee deVries) at his side.

He was the eldest of seven children, predeceased by his father, John, and mother, Adriana, his brother Leo, and sister Joyce Titterton. 

Brother of Mia Lamers (Ben), Andy, Bill (Lynn) and Tony (Beverly) as well as sister-in-law Nellie Doleweerd and brother-in-law Harold Titterton.

He will be greatly missed by his five children and their spouses, and was beloved Opa to 17 grandchildren: Frances and husband Jim Caldwell, their daughters Teresa, Alana and Julia; son John Doleweerd; Bernie with his wife Jennifer and their children: Adrianna, Daniel, Evan, Rebecka, and Jayden; Audrey and husband Ed Paty, their children; Sarah and husband Matt Lovsin, Johnny and wife Izabella, Timothy, Katrina and Joseph; son Jeffrey and wife Mary Lou, their children Megan, Katie, J.J. and Ryan.

Martin was brother-in-law to Regina vanderWerf, Tina Bruinsma, and Dianne (Jan Bucking) as well as many others gone before.  He will be missed by many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. 

Martin worked as printer/pressman for Munns Press of Whitby and with the Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board as custodian. He also served as trustee for both Denis O’Connor High School (private board) and Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board (one term). 

He was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church as a former choir member (40+ years), and member of the Knights of Columbus.  He shared his gift for music as a soloist at weddings.

Martin was an avid soccer fan (and player) and coached for years for the Whitby Iroquois Soccer Club. He taught many young players as well as his children, the love of the game.  He was a lifelong fan of the KNVB soccer club, (Netherlands), never gave up on the Leafs, and was thrilled with the Blue Jays this season.  

Please join us in celebrating Martin’s life at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas St. E., Whitby on Wednesday, November 4th from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 903 Giffard St., Whitby on Thursday, November 5th at 11 am. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Campaign Life or a CHARITY of your choice.
