Mary was born in Newburgh, Ontario, and grew up in Toronto. She was a graduate of Oakwood Collegiate and Victoria College Household Science (Vic '47).
Mary and Don married in 1949. Don's work took them to Sault Ste. Marie, Smiths Falls, Brockville, HMCS Gloucester; and then in 1955, with 3 young children in tow, to Burlington.
In the early 1960s, Mary began her career as a teacher of Home Economics and Family Studies at Glendale Secondary School in Stoney Creek. The family moved to Etobicoke in 1965, and Mary taught at Kipling Collegiate for a decade before taking early retirement.
In retirement, prior to Internet technology, Mary spent much time doing genealogy research.
Mary actively participated in the Ontario Genealogical Society, the University Women's Club, the Orkney Bridge Club, and in later years, the Humber Valley United Church Daytimers Group.
Of upmost importance was her family.
Mary's family is grateful for the service of Irma, her personal caregiver, and for the support of the staff at the Village of Humber Heights.
A private memorial service will be held. Donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciate.
