Antonio Mazzotta
1936 - December 12, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio Mazzotta on December 12, 2024, at the age of 88. Antonio was the beloved husband of Antonietta Mazzotta (nee Muto) and a loving father to Fiorina Arlia (Robert), Giovanni, Gioconda Porco (John), Susanna Bruni (Frank), Celestino (predeceased) (Joseph), and Settimio (Patricia).
Antonio was a kind and devoted grandfather to Frank, Deanna Watson (Matt), Anthony, Lauren, Matthew, Alexandra, and Gabriella, as well as a proud great-grandfather to Shyla and Gianna.
Antonio is survived by his loving sister Carmela Muto (Carmen) and was predeceased by his siblings Giuseppe (the late Elena), Mafalda Muto (the late Giovanni), and Orlando (Carmela). He will be greatly missed by his family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born and raised in the small town of Lago, Calabria, Antonio married his beautiful wife Antonietta at the young age of 24. He began his career as a skilled autobody repair technician while training in Germany. In 1967, Antonio, Antonietta, and their first three children immigrated to Canada, seeking a better life. Settling in Oshawa, Ontario, the family grew to include three more children: Susanna, Celestino, and Settimio.
Antonio opened Tony’s Auto Body, a successful business he ran for 25 years, allowing his family to thrive. A deeply social man, Antonio cherished his Italian heritage, participating actively in the Oshawa Italian Recreation Club and Oshawa Bocce Club. He took great pride in his gardening skills, cultivating heirloom vegetables and plants brought from Italy.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fairview Lodge Whitby for their kindness, professionalism, and support.
