Lloyd John Miles McDonald of Petrolia, went to heaven peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health Sarnia, Palliative.
Beloved husband of Helen McDonald (Dixon) for 61 years. Loving father of Steven & Yvonne McDonald, Maxine & Mark Orr, and Brian & Synden McDonald. Grandfather of Jordan McDonald, Breanna & Sean Stewart, Shaylynn & Nathan MacIntyre, Josh & Brooklyn McDonald, Tori McDonald, Kayla Orr, Jesse McDonald, Dan Orr, Jeremy McDonald, Jenessa McDonald, and great-grandfather of Myla Stewart, Teagan MacIntyre, Elora McDonald, and Aubree Stewart. Survived by his sisters Evelyne Saunders, Pat Anderson, and sister-in-law Donna Croft. Predeceased by parents John & Marie McDonald, brother Orval & his wife Gayle McDonald, brother Don Croft, and brothers-in-law Wilmer Anderson and Ken Saunders.
Lloyd was employed at a young age for the National Steel Drum Plant in Petrolia for many years. In 1974, he purchased Brigden Feed Mill, which he owned and operated for 50 years. Through the mill, he was a strong supporter of the Brigden Fair and the Moore Agricultural Society. Not only did the mill provide Lloyd with years of employment, but it gave multiple family members and friends opportunities.
Family and friends were very important to Lloyd, and he loved God and walked out his faith every day. He was an active member and past board member for First Baptist Church in Petrolia. He loved to travel and play baseball, continuing these activities well into his 80s. Lloyd will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Details:
Family and friends will be received at Steadman Brothers Funeral Chapels, Brigden on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church (418 Greenfield Street, Petrolia).
