June Ann Mitchell
June 3, 1934 - April 21, 2025
June Ann Mitchell (née Chambers) passed away peacefully and in comfort on April 21, 2025, at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton, with family at her side. Beloved wife to Gord for 71 years, devoted mother to Deborah (Rob, predeceased), Brad (Lois), Nancy (Andy), Jeff (Chris), and Joe (Lori). Cherished grandmother, and sister to Marie (Fox, Snowden) and Floyd (predeceased).
Born on a local farm, June spent nearly her entire life in the Beaverton area. She worked briefly at CIBC Oshawa and later as a bookkeeper at CIBC Beaverton—present during the infamous Boyd gang robbery. She dedicated much of her life to raising her family and later served as Secretary at Beaverton Public School and as a volunteer driver with Community Access to Care.
A member of the Beaverton Women’s Institute, June was known for her lightning-fast sandwich-making and was an expert quilter, knitter, and gardener. Her kitchen was a haven filled with laughter, tea, and homemade bread, which she baked regularly. Passionate about learning and curious by nature, she explored everything from exotic recipes to replacing computer motherboards with the help of tech support.
June remained independent well into her 89th year, driving and maintaining her home until late 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, resilience, creativity, and a deep love for family. Her influence and memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mangan Funeral Home, 332 Osborne St., Beaverton, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Friends and family are also invited to share memories and photos through the online memorial event beginning May 3.
