MORGAN, Gordon E. – Passed peacefully in his 99th year, at Dawson Assisted Care Living on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Born and raised in Drayton, Gordon was the son of funeral director E. Stanley Morgan and Myrtle Delahunt-Morgan. After spending several years with the Royal Bank across Ontario, Gordon graduated from the University of Toronto Banting Institute in 1952 as a licensed funeral director.

Upon marrying Elizabeth (Betty) Fotheringham, they established the Morgan Funeral Home in Niagara-on-the-Lake on July 1, 1959, later purchasing Morse & Son Funeral Home in Niagara Falls in 1971. Gordon and Betty raised two sons, became deeply involved in their communities, and cherished summers at cottages and hosting friends. Gordon retired in 1990, spending nearly 30 years at their home on Steele Road.

In his profession, Gordon was a past president of the Niagara District Funeral Service Association and was honored with an honorary membership in 2017 and a 50-year service award from the Ontario Funeral Service Association in 2018. In his community, he was an active member of the Niagara Falls Rotary Club for 40 years, serving as the Easter Seals liaison and playing piano at weekly meetings.

Gordon was predeceased by his wife Betty (2020) and younger son Jeffrey (2004, survived by wife Nancy), as well as his brother Glen (Phyllis). He is survived by son Ernie (Susan), grandchildren Michael, Lisa (Ben Lantos), and Brittany (Max Busque), and great-granddaughter Morgan Lantos. He is also survived by former daughter-in-law Susan D. Morgan and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, from 1-3 and 6-8 pm. A celebration of his full life will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 11:00 am, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Falls Rotary Club Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Niagara.
