Wilma (Purdie) Morrison
February 12, 1929 – April 13, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wilma, on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She passed away at Douglas Crossing Retirement Living, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.
Born on February 12, 1929, to Jean and Harry Purdie, Wilma was the eldest of four siblings — Dorothy, Harry, and Jim. She was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend of 52 years, Douglas.
Wilma was a devoted mother to Anne (Wayne) and Jane, and a proud, supportive grandmother to Michael (Ashley), Carly (Jeff), and Samantha (Paul). She also delighted in being a great-grandmother to James, Blayke, Tripp, Fisher, and Elliott.
A Toronto native, Wilma raised her daughters in Etobicoke before moving to Burlington and, eventually, spending her final 18 years in Uxbridge. Her professional life was marked by over 21 years of dedicated service as the executive secretary to the president of Queensway General Hospital in Etobicoke.
Family was at the center of everything she did, and her legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in our hearts. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who loved, cared for, and supported Wilma throughout her life. A special thank-you to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Douglas Crossing Retirement Living for their compassion, kindness, and support.
Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge Chapel. A private family celebration of Wilma’s life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
