Anne Morton
September 15, 1936 – March 2, 2025
Morton, Anne Helen (née Matheson) died very peacefully on March 2, 2025, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s.
Cherished mother of Suzanne and Janet, “Granne” of Caleb and Maeve, and a much-loved aunt.
Anne was predeceased by her husband, Reverend D. Garry Morton, parents Cathel and Helen (MacLeod) Matheson,
and brothers and sisters-in-law Alister (Mary) and Norman (Bernice).
A proud Hamiltonian, Anne began her teaching career there before going on to teach in kindergarten rooms
in Toronto, Burlington, and Ottawa. The qualities of patience, gentleness, and sweetness that made her a
great teacher and friend remained until the end. A devoted member of the Presbyterian Church,
she loved singing, gardening, and making things.
Cremation has taken place, with interment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton, at a later date.
The family is extremely grateful for the love, care, and respect she received at Fox Run Memory Care,
Gananoque, and since last fall at Derbecker’s Heritage House, St. Jacobs.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Presbyterian World Service and Development would
be appreciated and may be made through Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
