Douglas Stewart Mowatt

Monday, June 12, 1933 - Saturday, December 14, 2024

We are sad to announce that Douglas Mowatt passed away peacefully at Southlake Health on December 14, 2024, at the age of 91. Douglas was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor. He was a dear father to Carol (Ray), Vince (Gyula), and Jeffrey (Anne-Marie). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jonathon (Sara) and Marissa (Matt), and his great-grandchildren Alice, Liam, and Colby. He will also be remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Douglas spent his entire life working in the stock brokerage business, holding many years as a vice-president and professional trader. He was also on the committee for the innovative computer-assisted trading system (CATS) introduced in 1977. Outside of work, Doug loved spending time at his cottage on Fox Island.

Doug had a special love for animals, especially his dogs, and would often sit outside feeding squirrels, chipmunks, birds, and any other wildlife that wandered by. He was fondly known as the “Squirrel Whisperer.”

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Southlake Health for their care and kindness.

A private cremation has taken place, and there will be a celebration of life in the summer. Details will be announced at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
