Karen Ishbel Munce

December 6, 1938 - November 11, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Ishbel Neil Munce, 85, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, following a long battle with diabetes on November 11, 2024. Karen leaves behind a loving family and a legacy that will be cherished forever.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of over 52 years, Harvey Edwin Munce (2012), her daughter Lori Munce Lepizzera (2015), her parents Alton Abbott Neil (1997) and Gladys Ishbel McEvoy Neil (1978), and her brother Lawrence Andrew McEvoy Neil (2012).

Karen is survived by her son, Michael (Teresa), and her daughter Susan (Joe Colacicco). She was a loving grandmother to Michael Jr. (Lindsey), Trevor (Melissa), Jacob, Nicholas, Calvin, and Lucas, and a cherished great-grandmother to Marissa, Maeve, and Lexi.

Karen was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1938. She spent her childhood summers on Skeleton Lake, forming memories she would carry for life. After meeting Harvey in 1958, they married and later settled in Oshawa in 1972. Karen was dedicated to her family as a stay-at-home mom before working in various retail roles, managing a fabric store, and holding positions at Coles, Hunts Bakery, Eaton’s, and Sears.

Karen enjoyed time at the cottage, sewing, crocheting, reading, and sharing special moments with her grandsons and great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, with a service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. and a reception to follow. Donations to Diabetes Canada in Karen’s name are appreciated.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery.
