October 31, 1930 - November 12, 2024

MYETTE, ELSIE EILEEN, passed away peacefully at Glen Hill Terraces (Whitby) on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in her 95th year. Lovingly remembered by her sons Leonard Myette (Brenda), Lonnie Myette, and the late Lawrence Myette (Debi). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Nicole (Joe), Robert (Monica), Kaitlin, Alex (Maggie), Christine (Mike), Jeff (Jade), and her great-grandson Ryker. Elsie will also be fondly remembered by Debi’s daughters, Kailey and Leah.

Predeceased by her father Harold Arrowsmith, her mother Lilian Arrowsmith, her sisters June Hargraves and Ruth Levick, her husband Vincent Myette, and her son Lawrence Myette.

Elsie attended Nurses College and graduated as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated over 25 years of her nursing career to Whitby Psychiatric Hospital, retiring at the age of 59. In retirement, she traveled extensively, exploring many parts of the world. Known in Whitby as a devoted and tireless volunteer, Elsie earned numerous accolades for her service, including Whitby’s prestigious Peter Perry Award and the Queen’s Jubilee Medallion.

Family and friends will be received at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home at 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at the Barnes Funeral Chapel, with a luncheon afterward in the Barnes Memorial Funeral Home reception room. A private family interment will be held at a future date.

Donations in memory of Elsie may be made to Community Care Durham or a charity of your choice.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Glen Hill Terraces for their compassionate care and support, with special thanks to Liz, Jenna, and Rebecca.
