Lucy Myszakowski

April 17, 1927 - December 21, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our Mother, Babcia, and Prababcia Lucy in her 97th year. She will be greatly missed by her son Andy (Dianne), daughter Anne (Ed), grandchildren John (Candace), Adam (Agnes), Alana, Marissa (Marwan), Aaron (Sara) and great-grandchildren Logan and Ruby. She is predeceased by her husband John and grandson Michael.

Born in what is now Ukraine, life was a struggle early on as she lost her father to the Russian army in the war, never to be heard from again. Displaced by the war, Lucy along with her mother Teofilia and younger brother Walter were shuffled off to Germany. She found work in a hospital where, as fate would have it, she met a patient, John, who serenaded her with his guitar. It was the beginning of a beautiful lifelong relationship, one where they would rarely be apart.

It was an arduous journey, but they eventually reunited in Canada after the war, settled in Toronto, and married in 1952. Together they worked hard to provide a beautiful life for their family, including building two cottages in Kaszuby where the family would gather in the summer and enjoy it to this day. She retired after spending nearly 30 years as a supervisor in the lightbulb division with General Electric and then proceeded into her full-time role as Babcia.

In 2015, the fairy tale came to an end with the sudden passing of her husband John. Being fiercely independent, Lucy chose to continue living on her own until last year when she finally agreed to move into Wawel Villa. There she lived out her remaining 16 months in bliss amongst friends and family.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff at Wawel Villa for providing Lucy with the best possible care. She truly loved you all. Our Mother was the beating heart of our family who inspired us to love and to grow, and we will truly miss her.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Turner & Porter Funeral Directors.
