Gisèle Ranta Nadeau
Passed Away on February 12, 2025
It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Gisèle Ranta Nadeau on Wednesday, February 12, 2025,
at 80 years of age, in her home, with her loving husband, Eric (Erkki) Ranta, by her side.
Born in Beaucanton, Abitibi (Quebec), Gisèle was the daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Brousseau) Nadeau.
A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Gisèle’s love and warmth touched many lives.
She is survived by her children Sherry Lee (Randy) of Kitchener, Shawn of Timmins, and Tiina (Jorge) of Toronto.
Her grandchildren Matthew of British Columbia, Sara, Serena (Robier), and Haley of Alberta, who lovingly knew her as “Nana,”
will carry her memory in their hearts. She was a loving Great Nana to Dexter, Nimir, Dahlia, Nasr, and Aria.
Gisèle is predeceased by her siblings Huguette, Claudette, Jean-Guy (Denise), Raymond, Gérald (Angèle), Jean-Marc,
Jacques (Lucienne), Michèle (Chris), and Monique (Guy). She will be deeply missed by her surviving siblings Yvon (Suzanne),
Lise, Marjolaine (Jacquelin), Aline (Donald), and Sylvie.
Known affectionately as “Madame Gisèle,” she taught kindergarten for over 37 years with the District School Board Ontario North East in Timmins.
Her kindness, dedication, and passion for teaching left an indelible mark on countless students.
She also enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, gardening, reading, and singing.
The family would like to thank Dr. Raymond, the staff from Ontario Health at Home, and Bayshore for the support and care they provided to Gisèle at home.
Family and friends are invited to join us in honouring Gisèle’s life on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
at Lessard Reception Centre, 34 Elm St. S., Timmins. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders in her name would be greatly appreciated.
