Sebastiano Nirta

April 23, 1936 – April 12, 2025

Passed away peacefully with family by his side at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the age of 88 years. Sebastiano was the dearly beloved husband of Antonia, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Loving father of Lisa (Sebastian), Joe, and Cathy (Sarto).

Cherished Nonno of Cathy, Antonella (Nick), Olivia, and Dante, and Super Nonno of Quinton and Lennon. Dear brother of Caterina (late Domenico), Agata (late Francesco), and predeceased by his beloved younger brother Antonio (late Teresa). He will be missed by his in-laws Sebastiano (Pina), Frank (late Teresa), Maria, and was predeceased by Domenico (Carmela) and the late Joe. Sebastiano will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Sebastiano immigrated to Canada in 1966 in search of a better life for his family, and he embraced Canada as his beloved home. He had a deep love for soccer, politics, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Entombment to take place at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum in Whitby.

In memory of Sebastiano, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
