Aferdita (Drita) Nurka

November 27, 1935 - March 4, 2025

In the early hours of March 4, 2025, Aferdita (Drita) Nurka passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89.
She spent her final years at home surrounded by loving family and friends.

She was the mother of Elvira Yakoub, Ariana Shehu, and Dean Yakoub, and loving grandmother of Donika Yakoub,
Doruntina Yakoub, Valbona Yakoub, and Vincent Pinkenburg.

An accomplished Economics professor and former Vice-Chancellor of the Institutit të Lartë të Arteve in Albania,
she dedicated much of her life to enriching others, educating several generations of students.
She also endured immense hardship, demonstrating profound resilience during a decade of oppression in internment.
Even through those difficult times, her steadfast kindness was evident to all.

Upon immigrating to Canada, she lovingly nurtured and helped raise her three granddaughters.
Drita lived true to her name, bringing light to the lives of all those she encountered.
She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

May she rest in peace, Allah Yerhama.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel),
3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236), on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 10:30 a.m.
until the time of the Prayer Service at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens, 1100 Division Road.
