In Loving Memory
David John Oake was born on Change Island, Newfoundland, on January 10th, 1945, to the late Ivy Oake (née Torraville) and Claude Oake.
At the age of 19, David left his hometown in search of a new life on the mainland. In 1964, he met the love of his life, Lillian Joy Hoffe, and they married in 1966. Over the years, David became a successful businessman as a master carburetor builder and also showcased his incredible talent as a musician.
David was a loving father to three children and a proud Poppy to six grandchildren. On February 1st, 2025, at the age of 80, God called David home peacefully. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lillian, his brother Harry, and his children: Donnie Oake (Nancy), Darrell Oake (Jocelyn), and Darlene Campbell (the late David). He was the cherished Poppy of Danielle, Jeremy, Brandon, Taylor, Nathan, and Sheila.
David was predeceased by his siblings, Eddie and Harold. He will forever be held dear in the hearts of his family, friends, and his sweet dog, Leo.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Martin’s Anglican Church, 1203 St. Martins Drive, Pickering. Livestreaming will be available for those who wish to attend virtually; please check back for the link in the coming days.
