Passed away at the Village of Taunton Mills, Whitby on Tuesday September 9, 2025 at the age of 84 years. Husband of the late Grasilda “Grace” (nee Miklovaite) Loved and remembered by his daughters Kathy McCarroll (late Keith) and Janet Graham (Tom); sons Phillip Lubbock and Greg Lubbock (Camille Krupa). Adored grandfather of Cindy Vigneron (Gene), Michelle Knight (Conrad Russell), Paula Knight, Trevor Knight, Lorie Schoenrock (Mark), Steven Graham (Charlotte), Bradley Graham, Matthew Lubbock (Sonja Vive), Alanna Douglas (Paul), Anastasia Lee Lubbock (Kent Mendoza), Joshua Lubbock (Shelby Jarvis) and Jacob Lubbock. Cherished great grandpa of Anna, Jeffrey, Rosie, Kwynn, Rosa, Minnie, Stella, Katie, Emma, McKenzie, Eric, Jenna, Annabelle, Tasha, Ben, Tia, Tara, Jordis, Clark, Gordon, Penny, Layla, Preston and one on the way this fall. Predeceased by his son Michael Lubbock. Ben is also remembered by countless family, friends, Colleen, Lisa, Stanley, Al & Family and Christine and family, moments and memories in the Netherlands (Go Oranje!”), the Chicago area and the BC Lower Mainland.
Ben, one of twelve children, came to Canada from Rotterdam, NED in 1960 and settled in Aurora where he and Grace carved out an amazing life for their family. Although the Aurora Banner and Toronto Star were mainstays of his career, his true passion was for that of his family. Whether it was boating, fishing, swimming, playing cards/games or out for an adventure he always cherished time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
A close second to family was his appreciation for food. Regardless if it was Graces fantastic cooking or a stop for Tim Hortons, not too many meals were missed. It was said there wasn’t a cabbage roll or donut Ben didn’t like. Ben also had a passion for music. He enjoyed genres from Classical to Simon & Garfunkel and he learned & loved to play using the Klavarskribo system.
Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge Chapel. A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at a later date.
