MITCHELL, Mark Harold Mitchell

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mark Mitchell of Omemee, Ontario, as the result of an accident on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in his 54th year. Mark was born on March 3, 1972.

Mark grew up as an integral part of the Mitchell family farm and Auction business. In 1997, the matrimonial home on the family farm was built, where he remained deeply connected to his family roots. Mark worked as an auto mechanic for over 30 years—a career that perfectly matched his natural ability to fix just about anything. In 2021, he “retired” from the trade to pursue new opportunities, dreams, and goals, embracing this next chapter with the same determination and energy he brought to everything in life.

Mark Harold Mitchell was an avid snowmobiler and boater, and an outdoorsman at heart. A true “Mr. Fix-It” and business-minded entrepreneur, he was known for his strong work ethic, his willingness to lend a hand, and his knack for finding a good deal or solving just about any problem.

Above all, Mark will be remembered as a devoted family man with a wonderful sense of humour. A natural jokester, he loved to laugh and make others laugh, keeping everyone on their toes with his playful pranks, sharp wit, and signature smirk.

At the heart of Mark’s life was his family. He was a deeply devoted and loving husband to his beautiful wife and best friend, Tanya, for over 28 years, and an incredibly proud and caring father to Madison (Ben Sargent) and Cody, who were his greatest joy and meant ‘literally” everything to him.

He was the cherished “sunshine” of his parents, Doug and Shirley Mitchell, and a beloved brother to Julie (Tim) Wilson and Kathy (Karl) Schmitke. Mark was also a dear son-in-law to Carl and Bonnie Willis, and brother-in-law to Melissa and Andrew Campbell.

Mark will be fondly remembered by his niece and nephews—Courtney Wilson (Shayne Fee), Zachary Wilson, Samuel and Kolton Schmitke, and Brock and Mason Campbell—who appreciated his humour and teasing and will deeply miss the love and laughter he brought into their lives.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold and Bernice Mitchell, and Courtland and Dorothy Lillico.

Mark will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his many cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends whose lives he touched through his honesty, genuine friendship, and unwavering loyalty. He is now reunited with his dear friend, Spencer Burchall, and leaves behind many close friends, including his co-prankster and partner in mischief, Jeff Devolin, with whom he shared many laughs.

Mark and his family cherished their time at the cottage on Sturgeon Lake in Dunsford, Ontario, where many gatherings, celebrations, and peaceful sunset evenings were shared.

Mark lived life fully, worked hard, and loved deeply. He reminded those around him that life is meant to be enjoyed. Through his carefree spirit and playful pranks, he showed us that life is short—make the most of it.

Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Mark’s life at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay, Ontario.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 28, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Emily Cemetery in Omemee at a later date. Following the service, a light lunch will be served, offering an opportunity to share memories and connect with one another.
