YOUNG, Dan Young
October 23, 1946 - March 28, 2026It is with heavy hearts full of many fond memories that we announce the passing of Danny Lawrence Young in his 80th year on March 28, 2026, surrounded by family. He faced his illness with courage and faith, and while we grieve deeply, we find comfort in knowing he is now free from the discomforts that came with his long battle with cancer. Dan was a proud Boy Scout, dedicated chef, loving husband, father and cherished “Papa”. He lived a life rich in kindness, humour and service to others. He enjoyed cheering for the Blue Jays, watching a good curling match, and sitting on the porch watching the world go by. Dan never turned down a good breakfast, coffee with his “boys”, a bowl of ice cream or a piece of anything chocolate. A devoted member of Tillsonburg First Baptist church, where his quiet strength, humour and generosity touched many people.
Dan Young was a loving husband of 57 years to his wife Joanne (Langfield). Caring father to Darcie Lewis (Paul) and Carrie Dobrocky (Ben). Proud Papa of Ryann Lewis (partner Ryan), Lleyton Lewis, Annika and Allison Dobrocky. Dan was brother-in-law to Dianne Mackeigan, Marianne Sandham and Don Martin. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his parents Fred and Irene, 3 sisters Madeline, Evelyn, Vivian and 4 brothers Leroy, Ronald, James and Doug. The family takes solace in the lasting legacy he leaves behind–a life well lived, full of love, laughter, good meals and helping those around him.
Cremation has taken place. The family invites all to a visitation for Dan to be held at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell St, Tillonsburg on Friday, April 3rd from 7-9. Dan’s memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 18 Harvest Ave., Tillsonburg, on Saturday April 4th, 2026 at 10:00am.
