Povey OlivePOVEY, Olive  -  It is with great sadness that the family of Olive Povey announces her passing at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on July 3, 2017 at the age of 77.

Most dearly beloved wife of James for over 59 years. Loving and adored mum of Ian (Cindy), Phil (Shonna) and Margaret. Cherished Nana of Aeron (Justin), James, Adam, Jennifer (Cory), Sarah, Mackita and Eric. Treasured Great-Nana of Dominic, Patricia and Elizabeth.

Olive was a very generous and giving woman, she worked hard for all she had built with her husband and never took it for granted. She instilled the importance of family and togetherness in her children and was a doting and deeply revered nana and Great-nana. She always found time to play with the kids. She loved kids. She loved to watch them play and hear their laughter fill the house and warm her heart. Sometimes we think it was an excuse for her to play bubbles or build sandcastles; playing with the kids is what she loved the best!

When the kids weren't around and the house was quiet, Olive would pass her time knitting a little something, crafting items that her creative mind would invent or looking for the place that 'thing-a-ma jig' would fit. oh, yes- the puzzle piece. Loving family and others came naturally for Olive. After her retirement from Babcock-Wilcox, she devoted her time to all who needed it and would help out where she could and devoted 25 years to singing in the Church choir at St. Giles Presbyterian Church. Olive also loved to travel. When the opportunity would come to pack a suitcase, she was ready! Some of her favourite travel memories were ones that she could enjoy piña coladas in the warmth of the sun or maybe introducing the grandkids to Mickey Mouse.

Many people will miss and always remember Olive. She was one of a kind! Her memories will always remain in the hearts of her siblings Harold (Trish), Enid (Ted), Phil (Pat), Janet, Sheila (Gordon), sisters-in-law Mabel and Edna (Peter), her family, her dear friends and all who had the opportunity to meet her.

She is now reunited in heaven with her parents Margaret and Lewis Brooks and her sisters; Muriel, Margaret and Pat.

The family will receive friends and family for a Memorial Service at Barthel funeral home, Cambridge, on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11 a.m.

As per Olive's wishes, her body has been donated to Western University- Health Sciences. Those who wish to make donations in memory of Olive may direct them to the Alzheimer's Society, Heart and Stroke, Plan Canada or a charity of choice.
