Muriel Jean Oliver
1934 - 2024
With deep sadness and immense gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Muriel Jean Oliver, who entered into rest on October 27, 2024, at the age of 90, surrounded by her family at Ross Memorial Hospital.
Muriel was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Wesley (“Wes”) Oliver for 40 years. Predeceased by her parents, David and Mabel Magahay, brother Cecil (“Glen”) Skuce, and sister-in-law Ruth Skuce, Muriel was a beloved sister to Jack Magahay (Joan) and treasured aunt to Bob (Lynn), Judi (Marilyn), Cathy (Jim), Lynda (David), and Vicky (Brent). She was also cherished by her stepchildren Doug (Kathy), Cathy (Harald), Susan (Andy), and their families. “Aunt” Muriel held a special place in the lives of Andy and Anita Bell, their children Joe (Lauren), Jake (Sarah), Taylor (Jamie), Morgan, and their families.
A lifelong resident of Mount Horeb, Muriel was deeply connected to her community and an active member of Mount Horeb United Church. She enjoyed a fulfilling 30-year career at Bell Telephone Company, where she formed lifelong friendships and met her husband, Wes. In retirement, Muriel embraced life with her husband, enjoying travel, flying, and volunteer work, particularly with the Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Her dedication to service, her faith, and her enduring friendships will be fondly remembered.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North. Visitation will be offered from 10:00 am until the service begins at 11:00 am, followed by a reception and interment at Mount Horeb Cemetery.
