OLLAREK-KEYES, Albina Ollarek-Keyes
October 9, 1945 - January 19, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Albina Ollarek-Keyes on Sunday morning, January 19, 2025, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 79.
Born in Bratislava, Slovakia on October 9, 1945, Albina’s life was one marked by love, laughter, and an adventurous spirit. After immigrating to New York City in 1952, she pursued a career in hospital and travel administration. She was the beloved spouse of Patrick Keyes for almost 44 years, and loving mother to Ashley Keyes. Albina was also the cherished younger sister of Louis Ollarek, and was predeceased by her parents Ludwig and Kathy Ollarek, as well as her younger brother Stephen. She was also very close to Patrick's sisters Adele Lessard, Susan Karn-Keyes, Judy Rousell, Nancy Ottewell and Anna Keyes plus many, many nieces and nephews.
Albina’s love for travel took her to many corners of the globe, and she appreciated fine art and delicious foods from all cultures. Whether surrounded by family and friends or enjoying a quiet moment, she always had a ready laugh and a kind word for those she met. Her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She especially enjoyed being of service to St. Stephen's Chapel, St. Michael's Cathedral and St. Paul's Basilica.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Basilica, 83 Power Street, Toronto, ON, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. The church will open at 6:00 p.m., and a reception will follow the Mass.
Interment details will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the paramedics, ER, OR, Neurology ICU staff, and Spiritual Care personnel at St. Michael’s Hospital for their compassionate care and support to both Albina and her loved ones during this difficult time.
