Our family is saddened to announce the death of Walter Alfred Johnson on June 28, 2024, peacefully, at Credit Valley Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy (Russell) Johnson; his loved daughter, Heather Climenhage (Todd); and his treasured grandson, Tyler.

He is also survived by his sister, Barbara West; his brother, Alexander Johnson; and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Jean (Wilkie) Johnson; and his sisters, Norma Robbins and Marion Morrison.

Walter started his teaching career in Arnstein, Ontario, in 1956. After two years he moved to Kapuskasing, where he taught for eight years before moving to Streetsville in 1967, retiring in 1989. It was at Ray Underhill Public School in Streetsville where Walter met Wendy.

They were married for almost 54 years, and were blessed to have wonderful neighbours for over 50 years. Walter was a member of the Probus Club in Streetsville. Many evening and summer courses led to a B.A. and a B.Ed. over a number of years.

Cremation has taken place. The funeral will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Streetsville United Church, 274 Queen St. S, Mississauga, Ontario L5M 1L8, officiated by Rev. Joe Hopkins. Visitation at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Streetsville United Church would be greatly appreciated.

SILVA, Ruben Manuel Silva

SILVA, Ruben Manuel  -
December 21, 1963 - June 27, 2024

After a courageous battle, with his family by his side, on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Trillium Health Partners - Mississauga, at the age of 60.

Devoted husband of Lucy for 36 years. Loving father to Justin (Katherine) and Chantelle. Adored Vavô to Remy.

Son of Guilhermina Da Silva, late father, Manuel Da Silva; and sister, Alexis Lue (Chris).

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St, Mississauga, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 1 p.m.

December 25, 1933 – June 28, 2024

Yvonne passed away peacefully, in her 91st year, leaving her loving and ever-caring husband, Jack.

Predeceased by her first husband, Willie (2000).

Yvonne leaves her three children: Daryl (Nancy), Terry (Jody) and Cindy (Ken) Latimer.

Also surviving Yvonne are eight grandchildren: Chris (Holly), Brett (Alena), Cory (Julia), Matt (Shiela), Jake (Louise), Connor (Melissa), Rebecca (Jesse) and Max. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren.

Also left to mourn her passing are her three sisters, Dorrene, Marilyn (Peter), and Lynda (Bill); and one brother, Wayne (Debbie).

Yvonne has also been missed by her many friends at the ACCCC (Antique and Classic Car Club of Canada) of which she was a member for over fifty years.

Viewing will take place at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street in Richmond Hill, on July 2, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. and the Service will be on July 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial to take place at Elgin Mills Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Armando, after a brief illness.

Beloved husband of Lena (Fioletti), he will be forever missed and loved by his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Public Visitation will be held at Ridley Funeral Home (3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W.), on Tuesday, June 2nd, starting at 10:00 a.m. A Service will be held in the Chapel, at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mississauga.

WING, Joseph “Joe” Leonard Wing

WING, Joseph "Joe" Leonard   -
May 7, 1935 – June 26, 2024

Passed away peacefully, at Markdale Hospital on June 26, 2024. Joseph "Joe" of Markdale, formerly of Toronto.

Beloved husband for 53 years of the late Marilyn Ewing.

Loving father of Sheila (Joe) of Beaver Valley and Vincent (Ann) of Bancroft. Cherished Bubba of Ryan and Leslie (Jeff); and Great-Bubba of Arthur.

Proud uncle of his cherished nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by his special friend and travel companion, Doreen Latimer.

Predeceased by sisters, Marguerite Ewing and Doris Taber; and brother, Gerald "Jerry" Ewing. Cremation has taken place.

The family will receive friends at Annesley United Church, 82 Toronto Street South, in Markdale, on Saturday, August 10th, from 12 p.m. until the Service of Celebration at 2 p.m.

All are welcome to stay for refreshments and fellowship following the service.

TIMONIN, Ivan Malcolm Timonin

TIMONIN, Ivan Malcolm Timonin  - Ivan passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 22, 2024, after a stay at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa.

Ivan was born in Ottawa on August 23, 1938.

He attended public school in Ottawa and Mobile, Alabama, returning to Ottawa to study Economics at Carlton University.

He enjoyed a long and successful career in the federal civil service starting with the Economic Council of Canada, moving on to the Department of Regional Economic Expansion and finishing with the Department of Immigration and Manpower, retiring as a Director General. Ivan enjoyed two overseas assignments first in Chicago and later in Stockholm.

Upon retirement, Ivan pursued further studies in theology resulting in a M.A. degree in theology from St. Paul's University in Ottawa.

Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Michael Timonin and Alison (Swaine) Timonin; and his younger sister, Jean. Left to celebrate his life are his sister, Molle of Wakefield, Quebec; and his brother, Peter (Ann) of Winnipeg. Many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, in-laws and Ivan's former wife, Karen (Page) Morantz of Summerside, PEI, remember him with fondness.

The family would like to publicly thank the medical professionals and patient sitters at the Montfort for all their care and help during Ivan's last days. A funeral at the Cathedral in Ottawa is being planned for later this year.

FERGUSON, Thomas Craig Ferguson

FERGUSON, Thomas Craig Ferguson  -  Beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, at the age of 91.

Born on a dairy farm near Dalry, Scotland, on April 12, 1933, Tom had dreams of travelling to North America.

Shortly after marrying his sweetheart, Christina, in 1954, the two set sail on a new adventure to Canada. They settled in Bronte Village for nearly 70 years, raising their cherished son, Craig, and surrounding themselves with many wonderful friends.

Tom worked at The Ford Motor Company for 47 years, and in retirement, at Glen Abbey Golf Club.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband to Christina; a loving and supportive father to Craig and daughter-in-law, Stephanie; and a caring grandfather to Matthew and Emily.

Visitation on Tuesday July 2, 2024, will be from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., with Funeral Service to follow in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville.

BECK, Fred Beck

BECK, Fred Beck  -  Fred passed away peacefully at Amica Little Lake, in Barrie, Ontario, on June 12, 2024, three days after his 87th birthday.

A kind and gentle man, Fred will be remembered fondly for his passion for family history and lore, architecture, and for his fine hand in sketching and art.

Predeceased by parents, Carl and Marian Beck; wife, Susan Woods; and brother, Charles.

Lovingly remembered by children, Wendy, Gregor (Kevin), and William; stepchildren, Peggy (Mitch), Cathy (Scott), and James (Eleni); and, sisters-in-law, Kath and Deb. Cherished grandfather, to Gabriella (Jesse), Hilary (Steven), Jackson (Morgan), Iain, and Harrison (Isabella).

Born in Penetanguishene, with early childhood in Wawa, Fred attended Upper Canada College (UCC), and then University of Toronto, where he obtained his Bachelor of Architecture degree.

A Toronto resident much of his life, he was an accomplished architect, who later served as UCC's Director of Facilities Management.

Energetically engaged with community and church, Fred was particularly active in later years with St. Thomas Anglican Church, and in the Shanty Bay/north Simcoe County area.

The family extends sincere thanks to Ewa Frydel and the Amica Wellness and Memory Care teams for their thoughtful care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Georgian Bay Land Trust, would be welcomed.

A private burial is being held. Dad will be greatly missed and warmly remembered by family and his many friends.

WYLIE, Keith Eldon Whylie

WYLIE, Keith Eldon  - Passed away peacefully, at the King Gardens Residence in Mississauga, on June 26, 2024, just shy of his 92nd birthday.

Keith was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Joan, his parents, Jessie and Lawrence and his brothers, Harold and Glenn.

Proud father of Wayne (Anne) and Dean (Tracy); cherished grandfather of Jordan, Danielle and Jack.

Keith will be lovingly remembered by all of his family, close friends, neighbours and members of the Etobicoke Seniors league. Cremation has taken place.

Friends will be received at the Turner & Porter "Peel Chapel" Funeral Home, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (North of QEW), on Thursday, July 4, 2024, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m.

To honour Keith, a Celebration of Life will be held at Turner & Porter on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Private interment of ashes will take place in the Ottawa Valley late summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

July 15, 1930 – June 15, 2024

Passed away at Southlake Residential Care Village in Newmarket, Ontario, her home for the past seven years. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William "Bill" Smith; her parents, Harold and Gladys (Smart) Moore; her brothers, Harold (Flo) Smart and Frank (Betty) Moore; her sisters, Marie (Ralph) Truckel, Jacqueline (John) Gardiner, and Arlene (Gerry) Chapman; her father-in-law, William "Bill"; mother-in-law, Dorothy Smith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ethel and William "Bill" Everest; and brother-in-law, Bruce Smith.

She is survived by her sons, Randy (Ellen) Smith of Dublin, Ohio, and Tim (Karen) Smith of Calgary, Alberta; by her grandchildren, Sarah (Joe) Zarick and Paul (Kerry) Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Laura (Josh) Lane and Allison Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; and by great-grandchildren, Andrew, Michael and Samantha Zarick, Peyton and Avery Smith, all of Columbus, Ohio, and Ethan Lane of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was a caring aunt to 28 nieces and nephews. Eva was a devoted, loving wife and mother, supportive daughter and sister, a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother, and loyal friend. She attended Alexander Muir Public School and Newmarket High School, and spent her entire 93 years of life in Newmarket, gaining many friends and acquaintances.

She loved spending time supporting her large extended family, at both full family gatherings, but especially at small group or one-to-one conversations over tea. She had a quiet, calm demeanor, a presence, and was an effective listener and mentor.

She led by example. Many benefitted.

The Smith family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Four West at Southlake Village for the care provided, it was a comfort to the family knowing she was there; and to the staff of Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, in Newmarket, for the professionalism in making final arrangements.

Cremation has occurred. Eva will rest with Bill in the columbarium at Newmarket Cemetery.

SCHNELLER, Clarence Bradley Schneller

SCHNELLER, Clarence Bradley Schneller   -  Passed away peacefully, at home in Mississauga, on June 21, 2024.

Brad was born on June 3, 1930 in Baden, Ontario, the son of the late Edna and Wilfred Schneller.

He was predeceased by his sister, Marion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sandra; daughter, Ann, son, David (Susanne); grandsons, Jake and Evan; and 9 nieces and nephews and their children.

Brad was a proud graduate of the Ontario Agricultural College, OAC '53. After graduation, he went on to a 36 year long career with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. He obtained a Master's degree from Cornell University.

His passions were: spending time in his garden, travelling, woodworking and collecting antiques. Family genealogy and history were also areas of great interest to him and he loved researching, sharing pictures, records and artefacts with a vast network of contacts both near and far. Brad was a curling member of the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club and was able to continue curling into his late eighties.

He was an active participant in Probus, the Erindale Village Association and worked tirelessly to preserve history, especially his log cabin and the Erindale Community Hall. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame.

He will be dearly missed. Family and friends will be received at Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. West, Mississauga, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., followed by private family arrangements at a later date.

RUSSELL, Jane “Lily” Elizbeth Russell

RUSSELL, Jane "Lily" Elizbeth (nee McNABNEY)   -  Passed peaceably with her family by her side on Monday, June 24, 2024, a few months short of her 99th birthday.

She was the daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that anyone would cherish.

Love to Lily meant more than words - it meant dedication, living by example and sacrifice when love is not convenient. She was lovingly present for all of us, her husband, Bob, daughter, Colleen, son, Rob, daughter-in-law, Wendy (that so clearly she loved as a beloved daughter) and to her immediate family that she held so tight, George her son-in-law, her grandchildren, Lily, Rob (Bobby), Daniel, Michael, Jackie and Russell, her great-grandchildren, Ben, Aria, Ward, Erica and Emelia.

Lily looked forward to the arrival of Hanna Elizabeth, her granddaughter due in a few short weeks, who she will now embrace from above in the company of our Lord. She also found immense happiness and love for her large Irish family and her many friends who were a constant part of her life. Lily loved people and always found joy in their company and conversation.

Lily immigrated to Canada from Northern Ireland in 1952.

Lily found immense joy in dancing, stemming from her youthful days as an Irish dancer, most recently taking to the floor with her great-grandchildren, at the age of 97, on New Year's Eve 2023.

Although her last year was an increasing struggle, she was blessed with wonderful health throughout her life and enjoyed her retirement years fully in the embrace of her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 165 Russell St. E., Thornbury, ON, on Saturday, July 13th, at 11:00 a.m.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to her favorite charity, the Canadian Red Cross.

REID, Mary Anne Reid 

REID, Mary Anne (nee GALLO) Reid  -  With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother on June 12, 2024.

Born in Toronto, February 25, 1931 to Josephine Balutavich (Lithuania) and Raffaele Gallo (Italy).

Predeceased by her loving husband Gord in 2006. Mother to David (Tracey), Joanne (Ric) and Laurie. Grandmother to Stephanie, Vanessa, Mathew, David, and Kyra; and Gaga to Olivia and Ethan. Great-grandmother to Kian and Aiden. Sister to Alfred (Barb); and Aunt to Paula and Melissa. Beloved Aunt to Dennis and Pauline Johnson of NFLD.

Remembered by many friends and relatives in Wasaga Beach, Toronto (Laverne Coker-Ellis), Cobourg (Nola Rodgers), Florida (Joyce Clark), and Berlin (Elke Rosin). Mary lived a full life with a sense of humour unaltered by her cognitive decline.

New friends and old friends became friends for life. Mary was a proud 32-year "Bell Canada Pioneer" starting out as an operator and ascending to a management career.

She enjoyed travelling, camping, gardening and keeping up with current events reading The Star from front to back.

Mary's special place would remain Wasaga Beach until her passing in nearby Collingwood.

Thank you to the staff of Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, the caring staff of Pretty River Residence, especially Nurse Julia and the Kingsway Rivera Staff, especially Nurse Natalia.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

PETTIT, Nora Christine (Raven) Pettit  -

Nora died peacefully, at the Brampton Civic Hospital on Friday, June 14, 2024.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bill; her children, Adam, Amanda (Donny) and Jacquie (Wes); as well as her granddaughter, Hailee.

Her two sisters, Susan Doucet and Jane Mollard, and their families.

She was predeceased by her two sons, Danny and Ryan Black; and her grandson, Ryan Lee.

Funeral and burial have taken place.

The family would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors on the Palliative Care Unit at The Brampton Civic Hospital. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mary Claudette Murray of Milton, ON, passed away peacefully, with family at her side.

Claudette was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert Murray; and her siblings, Lauretta, Floyd, and Donald.

Dear aunt to Daniel (Wendy), Maureen (Michael), the late Richard, Peter, Marc, Karen, John, and their respective partners.

Claudette was a very special great-aunt to Brianna (Jack), Bradley (Sarah), Stephen (Rachel), Lauren, Natalie, Ryan, Beatrice, Elias; and great-great-aunt to Westley and Scott.

Claudette was proud to call Toronto home for much of her life. She had a successful 31-year career at Bell Canada before retiring to enjoy travel, golf and bridge. She enjoyed filing taxes for others and spending time with many close friends, neighbours and family.

Claudette will always be remembered for her laughter, generosity, sound financial advice, and love of 3-olive martinis.

Her memory will be forever honoured and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Cremation has taken place and a private gathering will be held at a later date.
