SIMPSON, Neil MacMillan - We are sad to share that our father, Neil MacMillan Simpson, of Mississauga, Ontario, passed away on January 10, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born to parents James and Mary Simpson on April 6, 1945 in Weston, Toronto.
He had incredible pride in being Canadian, while never forgetting his Scottish heritage. He graduated from The University of Toronto where he received a degree in Chemical Engineering, with a specialization in metallurgy as evidenced by the iron ring he proudly wore on his pinky finger. Neil was a pioneer in nuclear power safety standards.
He held Canada's seat at the ASME for Nuclear and shared his expertise and knowledge globally across his field. He was married to Geraldine Keane at Our Lady of Sorrows and is survived by his four children; Ian, Carley, Nikki, and Tyler. He was incredibly proud of all their endeavors, particularly those that were sports related. He appreciated a winning team and proudly supported the growth of women's sports in Canada.
Neil loved fast cars and speed boats. He loved tinkering with computers and renovations. He loved relaxing and watching the Leaf's games. He loved being at the cottage. Huntsville, Ontario was a second home to him throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, on Thursday, January 19th from 5-8 p.m.
The memorial service will be held at All Saints Kingsway Anglican Church, 2850 Bloor Street W., Toronto on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow.
