Diane Mildred Salmon (née Styrczula)

November 11, 1942 – December 20, 2024

Peacefully at home on Friday, December 20, 2024, Diane Salmon, age 82, of South Mountain. Beloved wife of the late James Salmon. Loving mother of Doug Salmon and the late Geoffrey Salmon. Cherished sister of Lillian Norcott.

Predeceased by her siblings Maria Tsekrekos, Leo Styrczula, and Ted Styrczula. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Samuel Wesley Schonnop

1953 – December 16, 2024

Peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Monday, December 16th, 2024, Samuel Wesley “Sam” Schonnop passed away at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Bonnie Rye, Sam was a devoted and loving father to Jason (Kristan), Todd (Jen), Matthew, Luke, and Jessica.

He is remembered fondly by his siblings Debbie (John) Hiltz, Don (Ingrid) Schonnop, and Tammy (Steve) Slavin. Predeceased by his parents Maynard and Marnie Schonnop (née Faar), Sam leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Respecting Sam’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Amanda Bridgette McGillivray

1982 – December 17, 2024

Peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, Amanda Bridgette McGillivray of Pembroke passed away in her 42nd year. Beloved daughter of Barry and Maureen McGillivray (née Steele), Amanda was a loving mother to Gabriella McGillivray (Mike Hartwig), Logan Forrest, and Katrina Desjardins, and a proud grandmother to Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ann Lynn Leclerc.

Dear sister to Amy (Tim) Quade and Rebecca (James) Sebele, Amanda was cherished by her niece, Tessa Jill Sebele, and remembered fondly by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by her grandparents David and Jill Steele, and Norm and Anne McGillivray, Amanda’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends will be deeply missed.

A proud member of the youth choir and active participant at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Pembroke, Amanda’s early love for gardening earned her a Junior Horticultural Award. She was devoted to her family, her beloved pets Bailey, Lucy, and Pip, and her best friend and confidant Nancy Page.

Amanda gave over 15 years of dedicated service at Tim Hortons in Pembroke, where she advanced to store manager at the downtown location, affectionately known as “163.”

Visitation: Relatives and friends may visit Neville Funeral Home, 491 Isabella Street, Pembroke, on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral Mass: A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Pembroke, on Monday, December 23rd, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at St. Columba’s Cemetery, Pembroke.

Linda Jane March (née Douglas)

June 30, 1941 – December 11, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Jane March (née Douglas), who passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at the age of 83, in the palliative care unit of North Northumberland Hospital.

Born in Lindsay, Ontario, to Gladys and Doug Douglas, Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Lloyd; her three daughters, Wendy (Dean Butler), Shelley (Ken Karpa), and Tina (Bob Bridger); and her beloved grandchildren, Carley, Amelia, Hayden, Hanna, and Lily. She is also survived by her brother Bill Douglas (Nicole) and her brother-in-law Bill March (Sue).

Linda was an accomplished golfer and cherished the friendships she formed at Cedarbrae Golf & Country Club and Plantation Golf & Country Club in Florida, where she and Lloyd spent many happy winters. Her passion for gardening brought her immense joy, and she continued to cultivate and admire her gardens well into her 80s. Her unique wit, humor, and memorable "Linda-isms" will be dearly missed.

Her devotion to her husband Lloyd and his to her was a constant throughout their lives, offering comfort and inspiration to all who knew them. The family finds solace in knowing Linda is now in a peaceful garden, a place of eternal beauty and tranquility.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire palliative care team and Dr. Mulé for their compassionate care during Linda’s final days.

Cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held as per Linda’s wishes.

Faith Ann Roy

1944 – December 19, 2024

Faith Ann Roy (née Buckland), formerly of Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Hawkesbury General Hospital, at the age of 80.

Faith was the beloved wife of Jean Roy for 60 cherished years, a marriage built on love and mutual respect. She was the proud mother of the late Darryl (Carolyn), Michael (Madeleine), and Marc (Mary), and a devoted grandmother to Avery, Ulysses, Randall, Alyson, Wylder, Zakari, Jessica, Sarah, and William. Faith’s warm heart and kindness extended to her cousins Lorne (Sue) and Barry (Sue), as well as to her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A talented mixed media artist, Faith worked with watercolors, acrylics, and ink, showcasing her passion for the arts. She also enjoyed antiquing, camping, and playing bridge, often gathering with friends and family for games. Faith will be remembered for her lively spirit, artistic talent, and the love she brought to those around her.

A private service will be held. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Hawkesbury General Hospital for their support during Faith’s final days.

In memory, donations to the Hawkesbury General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. A Tree of Remembrance will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest in her honor.

René Lalonde

1959 – December 5, 2024

Peacefully at La Maison de l’Est in Ottawa on Thursday, December 5, 2024, René Lalonde of Hawkesbury passed away at the age of 65. Predeceased by his parents Georges Lalonde and Laurea Jean Louis, René was the proud and loving father of Carl (Christine Séguin). He was a dear brother to Louise, Michel, and Lyne. René was predeceased by his sister Cécile and his brother Yvon. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A private family service will be held. In memory of René, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or La Maison de l’Est would be greatly appreciated. A Tree of Remembrance for René will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest, Vankleek Hill.

Christine O’Brien

1933 – December 17, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Christine “Chris” O’Brien (Gillissie) on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the age of 91.

Chris was the loving mother to Danny (Tammy), Terry, Billy (Bonnie), Anne-Marie (Heath), and Heather (Monty). She was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and recently, a great-great-grandmother. Predeceased by her husband John O’Brien and her parents Charles and Catherine Gillissie. Beloved sister of Mary, Jim, Frankie, Ron, Mike, and the late Tom, Theresa, Eleanor, and Cathie.

Chris had a remarkable gift for forging deep and lasting relationships. She was known for her kindness, wit, and sparkle, which drew people to her. Always ready to share a laugh or a heartfelt conversation, Chris maintained strong ties with family and friends throughout her life. She considered her most important role to be a devoted mother and grandmother, and her love and humour will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Perley Health for their care, support, and kindness towards Chris.

Visitation: Family and friends are invited to gather at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank Street, Metcalfe, on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.

Memorial Service: A Memorial Service will follow on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Daley Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Reception: A reception will follow at the Osgoode Legion, 3284 Sunstrum St., Osgoode, ON K0A2W0. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright colours in honour of Chris.

Passed away suddenly in her home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 5 days short of her 75th birthday and 6 days short of her 44th wedding anniversary. Beloved wife of the late Frank Kewley (July 2024). Dear mother of Emma (Daryl McKinnon) and loved grandmother of Mack, Ty, and Ada. Dear sister to Judy (Michael), Jamie (Cathy); aunt to Jillian (Jean-Luc), Christopher (Ana Liza), Jason, Lindsay (Rene), and Craig. Great aunt to Ana, Michaela, and Alex.

She leaves behind family in the U.K., many dear friends from Kars Presbyterian Church, retired nursing friends, neighbors, and the walking/bowling/book club girls. She will always be fondly remembered for her sense of adventure and travel. She enjoyed many trips in her youth as well as world travels with her husband Frank, and family vacations. Her love for family, dogs, her kindness, generosity, and infectious laugh will never be forgotten.

Janet will always remain fondly in our hearts. Family and Friends may attend visitation at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Dr., Kars on Sunday December 22nd from 2-4 pm. Funeral will be held in the chapel on Monday December 23rd at 11 am, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kars.

Cindy Jones (née Sayeau) passed away peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the age of 62. Beloved wife of the late Dave Jones. Loving mother of Cheryl Levere (Jim) of Iroquois. Cindy will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Zackary, Brooke (Jayden), and Brody. Sister of Barbara Coburn (Jim), Debbie Mae (Whitney), and Glen Sayeau (Samantha). Dear niece of Eva Garlough and Jack Sayeau. Predeceased by her parents Buddy and Verna Sayeau (née Seeley), her sister Donna Mae, and her brothers Dwayne, Denzil, Leroy, and Clark Sayeau. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Friday, December 27th from noon until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. A luncheon will follow at Cedar Glen Golf Club. Interment of cremated remains will be at New Union Cemetery in Williamsburg.
