Peacefully, on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa, at age 87. Helen (nee Garrison), beloved wife of the late Orie Robinson of Nestleton. Loving mother of Barbara Robinson, Debbie Robinson, the late Mary Lou Hurren, and the late Gary Robinson.

Helen was laid to rest after a Graveside Service at Pine Grove Cemetery in Prince Albert on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Patricia Mary Saric passed away peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

Beloved wife of the late Branko Saric. Loving mother of Rajko "Rick" (Sharon) and Manda. She will be lovingly remembered by her family in England.

A graveside service will be held to honour Patricia's life on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Orono Cemetery.

Rosilind Dale Schroeder

July 16, 1950 - November 8, 2024

Rosilind “Rosi” (Burns) Schroeder, daughter of the late Major Ross Burns and Eva (Hayes) Burns RNA, was born on July 16, 1950, in Simcoe, Ontario. As a military child, Rosilind moved many times in her life. She attended Alma College and Brock University. Settling in Weston, Ontario, she married Dieter Schroeder on September 26, 1987, where they raised their children. Her last move, in 2017, was to Oshawa, Ontario.

Rosilind was an avid reader with a curious and creative mind. She was also a remarkably caring, generous, and compassionate person. She brought her brilliant brain, her compassionate heart, her silly and witty sense of humour, and her creative spark into the work she did as a Guider and eventually as a District Commissioner with Girl Guides of Canada.

Beloved wife of Dieter Schroeder, mother of Jessica (Chad), Trevor, and Ian (Kathryn), and bonus mother of Patrick (Jessica). She was the proud grandma of Rylee, Avah, Owen, Marshall, and Virginia. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon (George) and Deborah (John), as well as her many nieces and nephews, who fondly called her Aunt Rosi.

Rosilind passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, surrounded by family at Lakeridge Hospital. She received kind and compassionate care from the ICU team.

Please join us in remembrance on Sunday, November 24, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at The Centennial Building, 416 Centre St. South, Whitby, Ontario. Light refreshments will be served throughout, and at 2:30 p.m., we will gather to reflect, share memories, and sing one of her favourite camp songs.

Steven Timothy Heayn

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Timothy Heayn on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the age of 47, after a lengthy illness. Steven passed peacefully at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa, surrounded by love.

Steven was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Stephenson) of Port Perry and a devoted father to Chris (Shylo) of Oshawa and Alesha Heayn and Brayden Hewie of Peterborough. He was a cherished “Poppy” to Emberlyn and Jessie. Steven was the dear brother of Chris Heayn, Mandy Thompson, Dereck Heayn, and Dana Heayn. He will also be lovingly remembered by his parents, Timmy and Nancy Heayn, and his many friends.

Richard Lawrence Switzer

1944 - November 12, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard "Rick" Lawrence Switzer, a sculptor, athlete, and cherished family man, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on May 28, 1944, to Baden C. Switzer and Doris (Lindley), Rick lived an extraordinary life, guided by creativity, determination, and humor.

Rick was a trailblazer in both art and athletics, known for his innovative spirit and passion. He excelled as a football player, hockey enthusiast, and later as a professional sculptor. His works, including his crowning achievement *The Pod*—a bronze sculpture of Orca whales that resides in Vancouver, B.C.—brought his artistic vision to life and earned him accolades, including multiple awards for corporate sculptures.

After attending the Ontario College of Art (OCA), Rick balanced careers in teaching, advertising, and art, never losing sight of his love for creating. His connection to Newfoundland, where he taught and crafted lifelike waterfowl carvings, remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Rick’s life was rich with memorable moments, from his time playing hockey with the Syracuse Blazers to building a bountiful garden in Pontypool. His love for family, friends, storytelling, and the Kansas City Chiefs brought joy to those around him. Rick’s warmth, humor, and storytelling created lasting bonds, leaving his loved ones with fond memories and many laughs.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Kris; beloved daughter, Anja; son-in-law, Brad; and many lifelong friends who treasure the bonds they shared. Predeceased by his parents and half-brother Jack, Rick’s legacy lives on in his art, humor, and the love he inspired in others.
