Philip Reginald Payne
April 3, 1931 – November 8, 2024
Philip Reginald Payne, beloved father, grandfather, farmer, and respected community member, passed away peacefully at Victoria Manor at the age of 93. Predeceased by his cherished wife and lifelong partner, Genevieve (Sedgwick) Payne, Philip’s legacy lives on through his devoted family and the countless lives he touched in the community.
He will be dearly remembered by his children Megan (Jeff Payne), Bruce (Jennifer Ackert), Nancy (Denis Grignon), and Valerie (Scott Iverson), as well as by his grandchildren Madeline, Conor (Bailey), Sydney, Nikita, Yannick, Jonah (Rose), Esmé, and Christian.
A dedicated public servant, Philip served as a councillor, deputy-reeve, and reeve of Ops Township, as well as warden of Victoria County. He took even greater pride in his roles as a skilled cattleman, a respected judge of character, a willing volunteer, and a person of unwavering integrity. Above all, he held his family close to his heart and will be remembered for his deep love and dedication to them.
An informal visitation will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Cambridge Street United Church in Lindsay, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip’s memory would be appreciated by Parkinson Canada or the Mission and Service Fund of The United Church of Canada.
