William Brendan Perry
1955 - November 1, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of William Brendan Perry, lovingly known as "Pops," announce his passing on November 1, 2024, at home with his wife by his side, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Bill was the son of the late Brendan and Helen (O’Leary) Perry. He was predeceased by his brothers Wayne (Pam) and Don (Barb).
Bill will be lovingly remembered by Susan, the love of his life; his two daughters, Sarah (Charles) and Emily (Chris); and his cherished grandchildren, Ellie, Lucien, Nicolette, William, and Charlie. He also leaves behind his brothers David and Ken (Alison), his sister Brenda (Doug Alteen), father-in-law Al Greer, and brothers-in-law Richard (Liz), John (Agnes), and Mike (Shannon). He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Bill began his career as an educator in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia before moving to Oshawa, Ontario, where he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a teacher, vice principal, and principal with the Durham Catholic District School Board. An avid sports fan, Bill coached numerous school teams, leaving a positive impact on students, colleagues, and communities alike.
Aside from his family, Bill’s greatest love was golf. He treasured his time on the greens, sharing rounds with his many golfing friends, especially those from the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club. Bill will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, quick wit, and sense of humor.
In honor of Bill’s final wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Durham Region Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice.
