HALLIHAN, Peter - On Tuesday, March 14th, 2017, Peter set off down distant roads for his next adventure, after a valiant battle with cancer.
A lifelong Peterborough boy, Pete was the son of Clare and Helen Hallihan. Cherished twin brother to Anne (Tom), and brother to Mike (Cindy), Dave, Paul, and Steve (Cathy). He was a loving father to Katie (Josh), Jackie (Kris), Mark (Danon) and Emma (Dan) and devoted Papa to Noah, Logan and Gage.
was a much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his four-legged best friend, Cooper the miniature daschund.
Pete's journey on this earth was too short but full of accomplishments and achievements. He was a journeyman electrician known for his excellent work and with a sterling professional reputation built on technical excellence, his dependability, his honesty, and his habit of "never passing a fault." He spent many years working with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He loved the outdoors and had many adventures when travelling abroad and from coast to coast in Canada.
The roles he most cherished were those of being a father and grandfather. You always knew where you stood with Pete. He was never shy of opinions or about voicing them. He was also one with a brilliant sense of humour, a great capacity for kindness, boundless generosity, and a large, warm heart. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends and the world will be a much less interesting place without his presence in it. We will always cherish our memories of him.
The family would like to thank the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for the outstanding care and kindness they gave to Pete in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
At Pete's request cremation has taken place. To mark his passing and pay final respects to him, his family welcomes you to a visitation from 9 - 10 a.m. on Friday, March 17th at the NISBETT FUNERAL HOME, 600 MONAGHAN Rd. S., Peterborough. A memorial will commence at 10 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.
