Albert ‘Abbie’ Petingalo

July 27, 1939 - November 10, 2024

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, Albert "Abbie" Petingalo peacefully reunited with the love of his life, Lynne, after almost 17 years apart. Welcoming him with open arms were his son Richard, his parents Sam and Rose, and all his brothers and sisters who have gone before him.

Left behind to carry on his memory are his beloved children: David (Karen), Brian (Sherry), and Christine Ciaschini (Robert). He was the cherished grandfather of Matthew (Amber), Jeffery, Ali (Ryan), Ty, Corbin, and Kassie, and a special great-grandfather to Brooklynn, Ryder, McKenna, Cooper, Kaydance, and Aubrey. Dear brother of Jimmy (late June) and Joe (late Margaret), Abbie will be remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, PSWs, and staff on A-side at the Ontario Finnish Resthome (MKK) for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Abbie. The love and dedication you provided during his time at MKK had a tremendous impact, and we as a family are forever grateful.

In accordance with Abbie’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Finnish Resthome or the Alzheimer’s Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District would be greatly appreciated by the family.
