Rounthwaite PhilippaROUNTHWAITE, Philippa Meredith Rounthwaite   -

March 23, 1989 - December 2, 2023

Our precious Meredith died suddenly on December 2nd on Nevis, an island she visited and loved since she was a child.

Though she was battling a debilitating autoimmune illness, her death is unexpected and cruel, and leaves her family bereft. Meredith was a thoughtful, brave and gentle soul with a shy but sharp sense of humour.

She didn't make a wide impact on the world at large, as her quiet kindness was saved for a blessed group of friends and family who saw the profound ways in which she changed our lives.

Our hearts are bigger because of Meredy. She showed us the value and beauty of simple joys, quiet moments and thoughtful gestures.

Since she was a child, she illustrated the strength of quiet courage. Meredy's departure leaves a void in our hearts. Her great gifts of empathy will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends were the centre of Meredith's life. She leaves behind her parents, Leith Hunter and David Rounthwaite; her sisters, Adair (Erik Esse) and Hilary (Alex Eastwood); and her nephew and nieces, August, Ruthie, Georgia and Phoebe. Her close friends, Julia and Sarah, were loyal and loving.

Meredith overcame dyslexia to become an avid lover of reading, and the world of literature provided great solace during her illness.

Through grit and determination, she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education to help other young people fall in love with books.

To support more children along this path, please consider donating to the Children's Book Bank (www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/the-childrens-book-bank/) and identify that the gift is being made in her memory.

We would like to thank Meredith's dedicated and attentive medical team, including Doctors Nutik, Wai and Tang Wai, who demonstrated their professional excellence and compassion to Meredith and to us as her family.

A funeral will be held at the Church of St. Peter's and St. Simon's, 525 Bloor Street East, Toronto, on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
