Doreen Isabelle Pickett

May 2, 1941 ~ December 4, 2024 (Age 83)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doreen Isabelle Pickett (nee Evans) on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Midland Gardens Community, Scarborough, at the age of 83 years. Doreen is the loving wife of the late Thomas Lemuel Pickett and will be dearly missed by her children Kim Cicerella (Mike), T. Mervin Pickett, and Patty Rogers (Steve).

Grandma will always be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kyle and Natasha Halliday and great-grandchildren Paisley and Maverick Halliday. She is also survived by her siblings H. Floyd Evans (Grace), Doris Hockley (Allan), and sister-in-law Shirley Evans, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by siblings W. Laurence Evans (Olive), J. Ross Evans (Barbara), Mildred Evans, and David Evans.

Doreen was known for her selfless service to others. She was a dedicated cook and baker, always helping those in need. A faithful member of the community, Doreen extended her love to new families by inviting them into her home for dinner after church. She was a Sunday school teacher in Deep River, Ontario, and continued to help families in need, even after moving back to Uxbridge. Doreen also had a special bond with her grandchildren and was overjoyed by the arrival of her great-grandchildren.

The family is deeply grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at Midland Gardens LTC home, who became like family to Doreen in her final days.

A private family graveside ceremony will be held at Uxbridge Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MS Society of Canada, Teen Challenge Canada, or ShareWord Global (formerly Gideons International). Donations and condolences can be made online at www.lowandlow.ca.

Doreen will be forever missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
