Louise Leonie Plaquet (née D’Hulster)

1937 - 2024

Louise Leonie Plaquet, aged 87, passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens on November 29, 2024. Born in Chatham, she was the beloved daughter of the late Alois and Bertha (née VanDaele) D’Hulster. Louise was the devoted wife of the late Roger Plaquet, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.

Cherished mother of Janine Gordon (Sonny), Brian Plaquet (Dawn Marie), Denise Plaquet (Ken Bovin), and Wayne Plaquet (Christine). Treasured grandmother of Brandon Martin (Tamara), Michael Plaquet (Christy), Ashley Broadwood (Brandyn), Rachael Plaquet (Dillon), and Cadence Plaquet. Proud great-grandmother of Grayson Broadwood, William Martin, Finley Broadwood, and Nathan Martin. Louise is predeceased by her sisters Cecile Louagie, Alice Verfaillie, and Tina Van Gerven. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Louise loved traveling with Roger to collect glass shoes and hats and to dance to their favorite polka bands. She enjoyed cultivating her flower gardens and took immense pride in her family, always speaking kindly of everyone.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
