PRIME, Dr. Raymond James - Surrounded by his family, Ray passed away peacefully on October 15th, 2018 at the age of 73, at Joseph Brant Hospital.
A devoted husband to Irene (Farmer) for 45 years, a loving father to daughter Dr. Jacqueline Prime and son James Prime, Ray will be sadly missed by his sister Annette (John Lux), nephews Raymond and Peter and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents James and Violet Prime.
Ray graduated with a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from McMaster University in 1973, and went forward to have a distinguished career at the Centre of Forensic Sciences (CFS), retiring in 2010 as the Director of the CFS.
He was a widely respected Past President of the Canadian Society of Forensic Sciences and a lifetime member of the American Association of Forensic Science.
Ray loved his family, his friends, the men and women he worked alongside at the CFS lab, his cottage, woodworking, birdwatching, photography, community youth sports groups, the Maple Leafs – and watching stars from the cottage dock with his friends and family.
He will be remembered as a loyal friend, a dedicated and talented scientist, a man who would always step forward to help, a person who could fix anything and figure everything out. He will always be in the hearts of his family.
