SAUNDERS, Rev. George   -  Rev. George Saunders, peacefully ascended to Heaven, on Monday, July 4, 2022, with his family at his side, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

Beloved husband of Lois Saunders (nee Gardhouse) and doting father to Kent Saunders (Jane) and Kimberley Saunders-Farrugia (Marcus), George's love for and pride in his family was always evident.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, George and Annie Saunders, and his brother, Bob Saunders (surviving wife Carmel), and will be remembered as a proud grandfather to Maddie Saunders, Tom Shine (Dana), Steven Shine (Katherine), Meagan Shine (John), Scarlett Farrugia and Paige Farrugia.

George will be missed by Lois's siblings and their spouses, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members.

Called to the ministry at an early age, George touched countless lives with his spiritual guidance and constant faith during his 40 years as a United Church Minister serving communities across Ontario.

A proud graduate of Queen's University, a patriotic Canadian, a railway train enthusiast and avid historian with deep passion and love for his hometown of Perth, and a dedicated man of faith, George's impact will be felt by many for years to come.

The Saunders family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Crown Ridge Long Term Care Facility for the care, love and support they provided George over the last seven years.

The family will receive friends at the Weaver Life Centre, 29 Bay Street, on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 1-2 p.m. with Ceremony to follow at 2 p.m. Interment, Perth, the following day on Saturday, at 11 a.m.
