It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Robert Ritchie at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at age 85.
Bill is survived by his wife Louise Ritchie of 55 years, his sister Margaret Lynas, brother Kyle Ritchie and sister Pauline Harrison.
Bill will be remembered by his many in-laws, nephews and nieces, both in Canada and in Northern Ireland.
After a number of years in the Merchant Navy, Bill spent 31 years with Ontario Hydro commencing March 24, 1965, retiring March 25, 1996 and then did 3 years contract work with AECL in Romania. We spent most of our marriage in Durham Region and all who knew him were familiar with his love of changing cars!
We wish to thank the Hospital staff at St. Michael’s and Oshawa General for showing such compassion and ensuring he was comfortable during his final days.
A reception will be held at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (North of Dundas Street) 905-443-3376 on June 18 from 11:30 to 1:30 pm.
