GOODMAN, Roderick John - It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Roderick John Goodman on February 3, 2024, at the age of 96, at Providence in Toronto.
Born September 3, 1927, Rod began his career as a reporter in Fort William, then the Toronto Telegram and the Globe and Mail, where he met his future wife, Janice Hayes Clark (died 2011).
He finished his career at the Toronto Star, where he ran the consumer advocacy department, Star Probe, and then as the Ombudsman.
He retired in 1992.
He is survived by his grandson, Colin; his daughter-in-law, Okhee; and his son, Darrell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rod will be remembered as a kind and generous man, with a quick sense of humour and a gentle soul.
A memorial service will be held in the spring. Details will be announced as they become known.
