Stewart Arnold Sanderson

1958 - 2024

In loving memory of Stewart Arnold Sanderson, affectionately known as “Grizz,” who passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 66.

Beloved life partner of 31 years to Sandra Ellis, Stewart was a loving father to Miranda and a dear brother to Steven (Heather) and Debroah (Bob) Martin. He was a proud stepfather to Chad Ellis (Stephanie) and Breann Ellis-Kober, and a cherished uncle to Becki (Leon) Brown, nephew Steven, and three great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Barb and Milton (Sandy) Sanderson, he will be deeply missed by his treasured friend Kathleen Denyer, whose kindness meant the world, and by Linda Brown-Bond for her support and guidance.

Stewart had a passion for writing, playing music, and driving, and he was a valued employee at Mackie Transportation Inc. His sense of humor, described as “warped,” and his joyful spirit will be fondly remembered by those who knew him. In his own words, “I was a helluva dancer.”

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Shure and his team, Nurse Christina from Paramed, and the Durham Cancer Centre for their compassionate care.

Per his wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The RS McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre or the Humane Society of Durham Region would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home.

Rest in peace, Grizz. You will be forever loved and missed, until we meet again – your favorite dumbass.
