Katharina Schmidt
November 5, 1932 - February 17, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Katharina Schmidt, who left us peacefully on February 17, 2025.
Survived by her beloved husband of 69 wonderful years, Franz. Katharina and Franz’s love story began at the young age of four, and they spent their lifetimes together. She is also survived by her son, Robert (Kathy), and was a loving grandmother to Ryan (Sara) and great-grandmother to Aria and Noah.
Katharina will be deeply missed by her extended family and friends.
Born on November 5, 1932, in Apatin, the former Yugoslavia, Katharina had a heart as generous as her hands were skilled. She found joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments—baking fresh treats in the early morning, preparing homemade meals for her loved ones, and crafting cherished memories through her sewing. Her kitchen was always filled with the sweet aroma of her famous apple pie and zwetschgenkuchen, and she took great pleasure in passing down her treasured recipes to her family.
Beyond the warmth of her home, Katharina had a deep love for animals. She cared for every creature, from family pets to the birds, chipmunks, and deer that visited her yard—always ensuring they were well fed.
