Donald Scornaienchi
December 11, 1949 – December 20, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Scornaienchi, a lifelong resident of Sault Ste. Marie, on December 20, 2024, at the age of 75. Don passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Claire Scornaienchi (née Dubois), and was a devoted father to Nadia Scornaienchi (Darrell Boverhof) and Ronnie Carricato (Sophia). Proud grandfather to Shae and Ashtin Boverhof.
Son of the late Louis and Velma Scornaienchi, Don was also a brother to the late Mark Scornaienchi (Joanne). Son-in-law of Cecile Dubois (late Aurele) and brother-in-law to Denise (Murray), Carmen (late Carmen), Ray (Wanda), Paul, Therese (Rob), and Carole (Peter). He was a beloved uncle to Marcus Scornaienchi (Joanna), Audrea Scornaienchi, and Mikaela Scornaienchi.
Don’s 33-year career with the Federal Government as a Counsellor in employment and immigration was marked by his unwavering commitment to helping people, a passion that changed countless lives.
Don was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His social nature made him a well-known and respected figure in the community. He had a deep love for football, enjoyed scratching lottery tickets, and valued his coffee time with friends. In his younger years, Don was an accomplished saxophone player with a profound love for music. He was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and an active participant in St. Gregory’s Parish.
