Herman William Seabrook
1938 - November 26, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Herman William Seabrook at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in his 86th year.
Beloved husband of Onalee (née Anderson) for nearly 65 years, Herm was a devoted father to Steve Seabrook (Mary), Peter Seabrook (Cindy), and Debbie Hauser (Troy). He was a cherished grandfather to Kara, Eric, Joel (Kate), Ian, and Jason (Kayla). He is survived by his siblings Marion Dunlop (late Jack), Clare Finlay, and Russell Seabrook (Marilyn) and brother-in-law Ted Anderson (Julie). Predeceased by his brothers Norman (Maxine), Keith (Mary), and Gary (Darlene) Seabrook. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Born in Walters Falls, Herman grew up on a working dairy farm with six siblings. He moved to Hamilton in 1956 and embarked on a 37-year career with The Steel Company of Canada, retiring as a Divisional Foreman. In 1961, Herm and Onalee moved to Grimsby, where they raised their family and spent their days together.
Herman was an avid fisherman, camper, and traveler, exploring much of Canada. A lover of country music, he enjoyed artists like Ernest Tubb and Jim Reeves. He played harmonica with the REEDS Harmonica Band, tended to his garden, and took pride in growing some of the best tomatoes around.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Stonehouse-Whitcomb Funeral Home, 11 Mountain Street, Grimsby, on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at a later date near Owen Sound.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to McNally House Hospice or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
