Smiling woman with long hair, blue sky backgroundBarbara Jean Serroul
April 15, 1992 – October 20, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Jean Serroul, age 32, of Oshawa, on October 20, 2024. Barbara Jean’s greatest joy in life was her beloved daughter, Trinity. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.

Barbara Jean’s love for animals was boundless, and she found her true calling in the veterinary field, dedicating herself to helping creatures big and small. Her kind heart and gentle spirit touched the lives of so many, both human and animal alike.

She will be remembered for her lively sense of humor and adventurous spirit. Barbara Jean enjoyed spending time outdoors, being by the water, and listening to music.

She is survived by her daughter, Trinity Spooner; her mother, Barb Serroul; her father, Daniel Young; her sister, Mandi (Chris) Shelswell; her nephew, Doyle Shelswell; and her bonus father, Phil Clarkin. Barbara Jean’s memory will also be cherished by her first love, Steven Spooner, as well as her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Predeceased by her grandparents, Danny and Isabel Serroul, and Stevie and Stella Young, as well as her uncle, Dan Serroul, Barbara Jean’s legacy of compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched, including her cherished animal friends. She will be missed beyond measure.

Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal shelter in her memory.

Barbara Jean’s favorite poem was The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe:
“…But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only that one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour…Then the bird said 'Nevermore.'”
